Training
Empowering our members with skills, qualifications and confidence for life and work.
At The ARC Activity & Education Centre, we believe that learning never stops. Our training programmes are designed specifically for adults with learning disabilities, autism and additional support needs — giving every member the opportunity to grow, develop new skills and build towards greater independence.
Whether it's gaining a nationally recognised qualification, learning valuable life skills, or finding a pathway into employment, our supportive team is here every step of the way. We work at a pace that suits each individual, in an environment that is welcoming, safe and encouraging.
All of our training is person-centred — meaning we start with you, your goals and what matters most in your life.
Our Training Programmes
AQA Education
We are proud to deliver AQA Unit Award Scheme qualifications — a nationally recognised, flexible framework that allows members to gain real, certified accreditation for the skills and activities they take part in every day at The ARC.
From arts and crafts to communication, teamwork and personal development, AQA awards celebrate every achievement — no matter how big or small. Each unit completed is officially recorded and certificated, giving members and their families something tangible to be proud of.
Job Carving
Job Carving is about finding the right role for the right person — by identifying specific tasks within a job that match an individual's skills, interests and abilities. Rather than fitting a person into an existing role, we work with local employers to shape meaningful work opportunities that play to each member's strengths.
Our team works closely with members to identify what they enjoy and where they shine, then helps create bespoke work roles that make a genuine contribution to local businesses and organisations.
Supported Employment
Our Supported Employment programme helps members take meaningful steps towards paid or voluntary work in the community. We provide one-to-one support throughout the entire journey — from exploring what work might look like, preparing a CV, practising interview skills, right through to settling in and thriving in a new role.
We believe everyone has the right to work and to be valued in the workplace. Our job coaches are on hand to provide on-the-job support, liaise with employers and help smooth any challenges along the way.
Online Courses
In today's digital world, online learning opens up a huge range of opportunities. We offer supported access to a variety of online courses — covering topics such as digital skills, health & wellbeing, food safety, communication and much more.
Our team provides hands-on support to help members navigate online platforms confidently, ensuring the learning experience is accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Completing an online course can boost confidence, independence and in many cases leads to a recognised certificate.
Life Skills
Our Life Skills sessions are at the heart of what we do at The ARC. These practical, everyday sessions help members build the confidence and independence they need to live as full a life as possible.
Sessions cover a wide range of areas including cooking and nutrition, money management, travel training, personal care, shopping, using technology and social skills. Each session is hands-on, fun and directly relevant to real life — helping members grow in confidence and take pride in their own abilities.
Why Train With Us?
Person-Centred Approach
Every training plan starts with the individual. We listen, we plan together and we support at whatever pace is right for each person. No one is left behind and no goal is too small.
Nationally Recognised Qualifications
Through our AQA Education programme and online learning pathways, members can gain real, certified qualifications that are recognised and valued beyond The ARC.
Links With Local Employers
We have strong relationships with employers in the Prescot and Knowsley area who are committed to inclusive hiring. Our Job Carving and Supported Employment programmes connect members directly with these opportunities.
Experienced, Dedicated Staff
Our team has years of experience working with adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs. They bring patience, creativity and genuine care to every session — making learning feel achievable and enjoyable.
